Pennsylvania has revoked the licenses of 12 of the more than 4,000 active chiropractors in the state in the past five years for unprofessional conduct like that a Milton doctor is alleged to have exhibited.

Of the 4,144 actively licensed chiropractors in the state today, 32 are in “revocation status” due to unprofessional or immoral conduct and are not allowed to practice pending the outcome of the state Board of Chiropractic’s review, state Department of State spokesman Nicholas Winkler said.

Despite facing charges of sexually assaulting two patients at his Milton practice within hours of each other June 14, as of Friday Dr. James Lee Carl, 35, of 1254 White Hall Road, Turbotville, still held an active license permitting him to treat patients.

The second incident occurred just after police left Carl’s office after questioning him about the first.

Carl is scheduled to appear before District Judge Robert Bolton on Wednesday at a preliminary hearing on three counts of misdemeanor indecent assault without consent and one count of indecent exposure.
