A McKinney chiropractor accused of sexually assaulting two teenage girls was arrested on additional charges Wednesday afternoon.

Dr. David Russell is accused of sexually assaulting of two teenagers while treating them for groin injuries at his clinic. He was arrested on aggravated sexual assault charges in October.

McKinney police said Russell was arrested on suspicion of two counts of sexual assault, a second-degree felony. Police said the two victims are both adults but refused to elaborate beyond that.

"I know it's details people want to hear right now, but the warrants have been sealed and the investigation is ongoing," Deputy Chief Scott Brewer said. "It would be inappropriate to speak to those details."

Police said the new cases were reported on Nov. 8 and Nov. 10, more than a week after Russell was first arrested on suspicion of molesting two teenage patients he met while volunteering at Taylor Dance Center.

"It seems like the McKinney police certainly have it out for him," said Russell's attorney, Todd Shapiro. "I personally believe that they are trying to cover up some mistakes they made in the past by continuing to re-arrest this man and harass him."

Shapiro said he reached an agreement with McKinney police that Russell would turn himself in Wednesday afternoon on the two new charges.

Instead, police ambushed him, arresting him for a third time, Shapiro said.

"They made it very clear they are going to operate on their timetable -- which they have a right to do -- and we are going to operate on ours, and one of these days, we'll have an opportunity to defend ourselves in court," Shapiro said.
