A SOUTH Cerney chiropractor has been banned from practising after having an affair with a "vulnerable" patient.
Nicholas Hall, who ran the Cotswold Chiropractic Clinic at Clarks Hay, has been struck off the statutory Register of Chiropractors after having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a female patient for two years between January 2007 and January 2009.
A three-day hearing of the General Chiropractic Council's professional conduct committee found Mr Hall guilty of, "unacceptable professional conduct" and ordered his name to be struck-off on July 14.
Mr Paul Moulder, committee chairman, said this was a, "serious case of misconduct" which caused, "real consequent harm to a patient in the care of healthcare professional."
He said: "Patient A displayed considerable physical and emotional vulnerability. It was clear from the evidence that Mr Hall deliberately cultivated an empathic relationship with Patient A over a period of time.
"The abuse occurred on numerous occasions over a significant period."
The committee felt that Mr Hall posed a continued risk to patients.
