An Indio chiropractor being prosecuted on charges of sexually assaulting several patients under the guise of medical examinations pleaded not guilty today to three additional felony counts.

Stuart Greenwood, 58, who is out of custody on $100,000 bail, previously pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual penetration and three counts of sexual battery under unlawful restraint.

Deputy District Attorney Brijida Rodarte told Superior Court Judge Thomas Douglass that additional alleged victims have came forward since the case was filed in mid-February, resulting in the amended seven-count complaint.

The judge set an Aug. 4 preliminary hearing date.

Rodarte said outside the courtroom that she could not discuss how many additional alleged victims came forward, citing the ongoing investigation.

Greenwood declined to comment on the allegations against him.

His attorney, John Jimenez, said he will prove the chiropractor's innocence.

"Our investigation and our work in this case is indicating Dr. Greenwood did nothing improper in any of the cases that have been alleged,'' Jimenez said. "It will become evident there has been no wrongdoing by my client.''

Greenwood is accused of sexually assaulting as many as six patients between June 2006, when a woman claimed he touched her inappropriately, to April 2008, when another woman alleged the chiropractor penetrated her with his finger, according to a declaration filed in support of an arrest warrant.
