A jury was seated today for the trial of a Coachella Valley chiropractor charged with sexually assaulting female patients under the guise of medical examinations.

It took four days to choose a panel to hear the case against Stuart Greenwood, who is charged with two counts of sexual penetration and three counts each of sexual battery and sexual battery under unlawful restraint — all felonies.

Opening statements are scheduled for Tuesday morning at the Palm Springs
courthouse.

Greenwood, 61, is accused of sexually assaulting seven patients between February 2005 and November 2008. The criminal complaint alleges that he touched their private areas and used his finger to digitally penetrate them.

According to court papers, the alleged victims were “at the time unconscious of the nature of the act and (were) not aware, knowing, perceiving or cognizant of the essential characteristics of the act due to the defendant’s fraudulent representation that the sexual penetration served a professional purpose.”
