Chiropractor faces felony chargesPublished: 2009-12-03 10:57:12Author: Brian Gawley | Sequim Gazette | December 2, 2009A former Sequim chiropractor now living in Missouri faces one count of
theft and nine counts of making false statements or concealing
information for allegedly double-billing the state Department of Labor
and Industries.
Marc A. Ferrin owned Coastal Chiropractic Center
in Sequim and COBI Chiropractic Center on Bainbridge Island. He moved
last spring to Jefferson City, Mo., where he operates JC Chiropractic.
A
20-page affidavit alleges Ferrin double-billed L&I between July
2007 and April 2008. It says Ferrin stole more than $1,500 - which
qualifies as first-degree theft - and details nine patients from whom
Ferrin took money, then also billed Labor and Industries.
First-degree
theft is a Class B felony with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison
and a $20,000 fine. Making false statements or concealing information
is a Class C felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison and
a $10,000 fine.
