A Bath chiropractor accused of molesting four patients had his license restored Thursday by the Pennsylvania Department of State.

Hearing examiner C. Michael Weaver said two of John Marino's patients who told police they had been molested failed to admit that during Monday's suspension hearing. Another one failed to testify, and the examiner found the fourth person's testimony was not credible.

Marino, 48, serves on the Nazareth Area School Board. His license was immediately reinstated when the decision was handed down.

State Department spokesman Charlie Young said the department is still processing what the ruling means.

"We had just received the decision today and we'll be evaluating that and make a determination of where to go from here," Young said.

No one answered the phone at Marino's office, and his home number was disconnected. A call to his attorney was not returned.

The women accused Marino of molesting them in his office between 2004 and 2006 while he treated them for heartburn. He was charged criminally April 29 with four counts of indecent assault and four counts of harassment. A preliminary hearing is set for July 20.

At the license suspension hearing Monday, one patient who told police she had been molested testified that Marino touched the top of her pubic hairline but did not touch her anywhere else. Another testified that Marino quickly pulled down her pants until her pubic hair was exposed but did not touch her inappropriately.

One patient could not testify due to a recent hospitalization.

A nurse and a personal trainer testified Marino treated them for heartburn and his treatment was conducted appropriately.
