GRAND RAPIDS -- In the first of a pair of sentencing hearings for a Wyoming chiropractor accused of fondling female clients, Gregory Alan Freeman will spend nine months in the Kent County Jail.

He also will not be able to practice his craft for two years -- effectively ending his career as a chiropractor, according to his lawyer.

A jury found Freeman guilty of two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual in a June trial that revealed he had a bar in the basement of his 36th Street SW office. He would bring female clients there for drinks and he also asked clients to expose themselves in lieu of payment, according to testimony.

Several of the women who said Freeman victimized them were in Kent County Circuit Court on Thursday to see him sentenced. They did not wish to comment until Freeman is sentenced on a second set of similar charges. On Monday, he pleaded guilty to two more criminal counts related to fondling women's breasts. He will be sentenced on those charges Sept. 17.
